Mediating role of emotional intelligence between employee engagement and job satisfaction in Indian IT sector

Abstract: Literature revealed different factors of individual behaviour as responsible factors for better performance and satisfaction. Emotional intelligence is a well discussed topic and is considered as one of the important factors of individual behaviour. It is reported in a number of studies that satisfied and fully engaged employees contribute to their job and the organisation more than the expected level of performance. Based on these facts, this study is aimed at examining the mediating role of emotional intelligence between employee engagement and job satisfaction in Indian IT sectors. Data is collected from 714 professionals working in the Indian IT sector through well designed questionnaire. The results portrayed the partial mediation of emotional intelligence between employee engagement and job satisfaction in the IT sector. It is recommended to create awareness about emotional intelligence among IT professionals as it enhances satisfaction and engagement of employee that will improve individual performance as well as organisational performance.
