Abstract: This paper contributes a model called Maintenance Quality Function Deployment (MQFD), which has been developed by linking Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) principles. The paper reports the results of literature and practical surveys to appraise the absence of any model linking TPM and QFD. Following this, the salient features of the MQFD model are presented. In the latter sections of the paper, the surveys aiming to check the receptivity to MQFD among different professionals are reported. The results of these surveys have been used to design a procedure for successfully implementing MQFD in organisations. The paper is concluded by claiming that the challenge of nourishing the benefits of MQFD is the new vista for future researchers.
