Dynamic process planning systems in the competitive environment

Kazumasa Ohashi

International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, 2001, vol. 3, issue 3, 260-272

Abstract: A dynamic process planning system which has competitive factors among manufacturing companies is described as one of the most favourable planning systems for pallet based machining operations of a flexible manufacturing system (FMS). It consists of three subsystems, and is hierarchically organised with a strategic decision function. Whenever the decision-maker changes the process plan, the appropriate subproblem to be improved is specified and implemented to revise the process plan, and it is compared with competitive performance data. Finally, an actual system architecture of the proposed dynamic process planning model is shown.
