Manufacturing performance measurement systems: a review

A.S. Babu, S.A. George and R.P. Mohanty

International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, 2003, vol. 5, issue 5/6, 398-413

Abstract: This paper presents a review of performance measurement systems for manufacturing organisations and highlights the fact that most systems have deficiencies, such as: lacking strategic focus, not being externally connected, and encouraging short-termism etc. It discusses a performance linkage instrument to overcome these criticisms and explains a multi-level analytical model for application to manufacturing organisations.
