Impact of cellular manufacturing on supply chain management: exploration of interrelationships between design issues

P. Poornachandra Rao and R.P. Mohanty

International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, 2003, vol. 5, issue 5/6, 507-520

Abstract: Traditionally, design of cells in the context of cellular manufacturing systems and design of supply chains are analysed separately. This paper proposes an integration of these two distinct but disjoint design approaches. An illustrative example has been provided to describe the interrelationship between design issues in cellular manufacturing and supply chain design.
