Abstract:
Optimal design of water distribution networks is the most important and challenging issue in the 21st century. Evolutionary algorithms are evolved as efficient approach to optimise such problems. In this paper, a real coded genetic algorithm, MILXPM, is hybridised with Newton-Raphson method for the optimal design of water distribution networks. Proposed MILXPM-NR is tested on three different test problems. Results show that it is an efficient and reliable algorithm for optimal design of water distribution networks.
