International Journal of Operational Research, 2015, vol. 24, issue 3, 305-328

Abstract: In the performance analysis of communication and manufacturing systems, fluid queues are occupying integral part of investigation. In real life situation, we come across state dependent fluid queues. The occurrence of catastrophes in communication systems is a common phenomenon. In this paper, a fluid queue driven by a queue with discouraged arrivals and catastrophe is discussed. We have driven the stationary distribution using continued fraction and confluent hypergeometric function methodologies and further obtained the same for an infinite server queue. In addition, we have analysed the queue when there are no catastrophes and noticed that our results coincide with the earlier work when there are no catastrophes.
