International Journal of Product Development, 2009, vol. 7, issue 1/2, 113-126

Abstract: The Kansei image-driven design method of product styling is presented to satisfy the consumers' psychological Kansei image-demands better. At first, the typical product samples are sorted out; then, Kansei image preference for the category of product is extracted. Second, the corresponding relationship between consumers' psychological Kansei image and the design elements of product styling is acquired. Third, the image evaluating pattern based on neural network is constructed; and then, the design pattern of the product styling based on genetic algorithm is constructed. It can automatically reason out the concept styling, which will satisfy consumers' image demands. Finally, the colour design of MP3 is examined, and the verification of the method is certified.
