International Journal of Procurement Management, 2024, vol. 19, issue 3, 336-353

Abstract: Managerial turnover is an important issue, yet research on employee turnover in the public sector needs to be more extensive. Thus, it reiterates the need to revisit the underlying cause for attrition in Indian public sector enterprises (PSEs). The study aims to identify the key drivers and their roles in public-sector enterprises. This investigation examines the facilitating role of job satisfaction (JS) between pay satisfaction dimensions (PS) and turnover intention (TOI) in the PSEs. The cross-sectional data are drawn from 667 executives from top-performing PSEs. The outcome of the analysis advocates that JS mediate the association between the PS and TOI. Thus, the results of this work unravel and shed light on the understanding of PS and TOI and the facilitating role of JS in public enterprises. The periodic pay revision and seniority-based promotion system must be addressed to create a culture of talent recognition and faster career progression.
