Abstract:
Delay is one of the most critical causes of failure in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects. This issue is the most common cause of insufficiency, dissatisfaction, extra costs, and poor quality of projects. In this regard, it is important to identify and prioritise delay factors, and provide potential plans to fix them. This study has applied probability, impact, and detection as the main criteria to rank different delay factors of EPC projects. A potential list of 15 delay factors has been extracted from 80 related papers. Next, an analytic network process (ANP) is applied to rank them. Following, a fuzzy-ANP approach is also applied to rank different delay factors of EPC projects. According to the obtained results, delay in the payment of statements by employer, delay in the payment of salaries and wages of employees, personnel and subcontractors are the most important causes of delay in EPC projects.
