 The association of emotional intelligence with academic performance and student employability: a reflection of higher educationManisha Seth, Athar Mahmood, Ajay Jha and Vimal Kumar International Journal of Procurement Management, 2024, vol. 20, issue 3, 287-301 Abstract: Several studies have been done to explain emotional intelligence (EI) among students but there is no consensus on its impact on academic performance (AP) and employability. The purpose of the present study is to ascertain the nature of relationships that exists between EI, AP, and the employability of students pursuing higher education. A total of 164 students from various institutes in India took the EI test, and their AP scores and placement performance details were also obtained. The findings depict EI has a significant impact on students' AP and affects their employability measured in terms of their performance in the placement process. AP has been found to have a significant correlation with the performance of students in the initial phase of the placement process. The findings can be useful in designing placement centric curriculum for management students and giving EI a proper place so that students, prospective employees, and organisations can gain.
