A review of green supply chain management in the pharmaceutical industry

Abstract: This systematic review examines pharmaceutical green supply chain management (GSCM). The Scopus database was used to assess academic publications on GSCM and pharmaceutical applications up to March 2023. GSCM can boost pharmaceutical sector efficiency, sustainability, and environmental effect. GSCM techniques reduced greenhouse gas emissions, water, energy, waste, and environmental pollution. GSCM also improves supplier relationships, regulatory compliance, cost savings, and reputation. The assessment notes that GSCM implementation in the pharmaceutical business must address the complexity of the supply chain in addition to a lack of knowledge and education regarding GSCM. The analysis proposes pharmaceutical companies, suppliers, regulators, and consumers must work together to address these issues. Lastly, the review calls for more research on the effectiveness of GSCM practices in diverse areas and circumstances and the part that technological advancement and creative thinking play in ensuring its successful implementation.
