Abstract:
This study examines the effect of electronic procurement practices, institutional quality, and procurement performance of public entities. The positivist paradigm and the explanatory research approach guided the study. Primary data were gathered from public entities through structured questionnaires and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study established that electronic procurement practices positively and significantly enhance procurement performance. Also, the findings revealed a negative and insignificant effect between institutional quality and procurement performance. Lastly, institutional quality positively and significantly moderates the relationship between electronic procurement practices and procurement performance. The study recommends strong systems and control mechanisms to ensure compliance with the electronic procurement process to help prevent procurement irregularities and enhance procurement transparency, efficiency and effectiveness.
