Performance evaluation of team dynamics and team effectiveness in projects using CRITIC approach

Sunitha Kumaran

International Journal of Project Organisation and Management, 2022, vol. 14, issue 2, 204-231

Abstract: The project teams embedded in the organisation system are the key driver of a project's success. The extent of the collaborative effort and efficiency of the team relates to the project's success or failure. As project teams face an increasingly complex set of challenges, attention has been paid to the influence of team dynamics and team effectiveness. In their quest to develop high-performance teams, project managers must focus on the team processes and their determinants in order to lay the foundation of a well-directed, collaborative, supportive and shared mindset among the people. This study examines the key domains of project team dynamics and team effectiveness, assigns domain weights and constructs an overall performance index of projects using the CRITIC method. The study has successfully identified the crucial team process factors that team leaders should focus on and has paved a way to construct multi-criterion weightage-based evaluation of project's performance.
