Abstract:
Micro-manufacturing is the vital technology in the micro-engineering field for the production of micro-tools and miniature components. This paper focuses on the use of micro-WEDG process to generate a micro tool (electrode) with minimum surface roughness (Ra) and higher material removal rate (MRR). It examines and explains the influences of three process parameters such as feed rate, capacitance and voltage on the output responses such as MRR and Ra. In this experimental work, statistical models have been developed using three-level full factorial experimental design. Further, the optimised machining parameters were determined considering the multiple response objective using design expert software. Also, this paper explains the use of developed models for multiple-response optimisation. These optimised machining parameters are validated experimentally and it is concluded that the measured response values are in good agreement with the predicted values.
