Abstract:
Lean manufacturing is a preferred approach adopted by most of manufacturing industries to improve their manufacturing performance. Value steam mapping is one of the major enabler of lean manufacturing. In value stream mapping whole value stream is mapped in terms of flow of information and material throughout the value stream. Basic information about the flow and process are recorded, analysed, presented and implemented in improved manner hence making VSM a powerful tool for process improvement. This paper is an attempt to present a real life example of improvement gained through implementation of VSM enabler of lean manufacturing. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the measurable impact of lean manufacturing implementation on operational performance with the use of value stream mapping enabler of lean manufacturing.
