Abstract:
In optimisation of manufacturing process parameters there are many response variables (or physical characteristics of the end product) that are under investigation at the same time. Therefore, to solve such a multi-response optimisation problem, it felt necessary to develop a robust technique which allows the simultaneous optimisation of several responses. In this paper, a novel performance integrating strategy based on fuzzy-AHP technique is introduced to the Taguchi method. Detailed methodology and advantages of this approach are highlighted during this study. A case study of parametric optimisation during submerged arc welding demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
