Abstract:
In this paper a model is developed for evaluating the availability, the production rate of multi-state degraded systems subjected to minimal repairs and imperfect preventive maintenance. With the help of mathematical and structural modelling, the transition diagrams are drawn which further helped in the mathematically formulation of the availability states based on the Markov process. This repair action brings the system to its previous operational state without affecting its failure rate (i.e., minimal repair). The main objective of the present research is to examine the performance evaluation of various subsystems of cylinder plant. The steady state availability as well as transient state availability of the subsystem has been analysed and particle swarm optimisation (PSO) is used for finding optimal availability of the system. Based on various availability values obtained in availability matrices and graphs of failures, repair rates of different subsystems, maintenance priorities are decided for all subsystems.
