International Journal of Productivity and Quality Management, 2019, vol. 28, issue 1, 90-102

Abstract: The research evaluated the effect of the change in position of the observer and luminance of light source on discomfort glare. There were two approaches taken in this study, one was qualitative and other was quantitative approach. The quantitative approach was based on unified glare rating. In this study, 11 experiments have been conducted to get degree of glare at different places of room. The qualitative analysis performed over 15 participants and on the basis of questionnaire, degree of glare has been evaluated. A participant has to answer that he finds particular field of direction comfortable or not by marking it on a scale (De-Boer) of 1-4. The result obtained from both approaches was compared to get the comfortable range of illuminance and the angle between the luminaire with line of sight.
