Osama Khaled Alkhlaifat and László Koloszár

International Journal of Productivity and Quality Management, 2023, vol. 38, issue 4, 464-481

Abstract: This study sought to determine the efficacy of applying lean management (LM) principles by measuring the efforts made in application, then comparing these efforts with the perceived effectiveness of the application process from the employees' point of view in the Jordan Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO). The current study deals with the main principles of LM: customer focus, standardisation, waste elimination, workflow and continuous improvement. Descriptive analysis was used for the data collected from 234 randomly selected employees using a questionnaire. The results indicate that the effectiveness of LM principles ranged from mid to high in all of the company's branches. There is also a gap between the efforts made and application effectiveness; the achieved effectiveness is less than the invested efforts, which indicates wasted resources.
