Abstract: Due to today's increasing competition, a major trend is the demand of customers to manufacturers for supplying higher quality products in shorter due time. This paper proposes two models of P control chart with tardiness penalty used in short due time processes to improve the quality of manufacture. When the P control chart is used in short due time process, the penalty cost for the delay might be imposed. Therefore, clarifying and treating the assignable cause in due time with minimum cost have become a reality problem. In this paper, first, we propose two models of P control chart with tardiness penalty. Then, we explain the mathematical formulations which correspond to the two models. Finally, to clarify the management rules of process situations where the two models should be used in, we investigated the comparisons between the two models by numerical experiments in detail.
