Abstract:
This paper describes a maintenance policy model based on semi-Markov processes. The optimal policy is found by means of multi-objective optimisation and a modified simulated annealing algorithm. The procedure is illustrated through a practical example that involves finding an optimal maintenance policy for a circuit breaker that is subjected to frequent minimal repairs and occasionally to a major overhaul.
