Critical success factors for e-procurement marketplace

Loay Sehwail and Ricki G. Ingalls

International Journal of Services and Operations Management, 2005, vol. 1, issue 4, 344-357

Abstract: Online marketplaces have changed the way companies conduct their business. The online Business-to-Business (B2B) e-procurement marketplaces have gained attention because of their promise to create price and transactional efficiencies. In this paper, the authors examine the critical success factors that are contributing to the success of e-procurement marketplaces. The authors have found that the marketplace success is more than simply finding the right market and providing value for the participants. The authors also analyse the value propositions for both buyers and suppliers in the e-procurement marketplace and how e-procurement success runs counter to many traditional procurement processes.
