Green sustainable operations: a case from service industry

Avninder Gill

International Journal of Services and Operations Management, 2017, vol. 26, issue 4, 411-427

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to highlight the green operations in the hospitality industry, recommend an environment management system and carbon footprint performance reporting system. The paper applied the effect-cause-effect technique from theory of constraints to support the sustainability arguments, proposed a new four-pronged environment strategy and showed its application to a real company. The paper used a hotel business as the backdrop and analysed its carbon footprint green performance against the main energy costs. Socially responsible business operations along with environment sustainability in the hospitality industry are two important themes followed in this paper.
