State of art review on strategies, tools and indicators of sustainable manufacturing

Abstract:
Sustainable manufacturing enables manufacturing organisations to develop products with minimal environmental impact. Sustainability is based on triple bottom line approach with environment, economy and societal dimensions. Automotive component manufacturing organisations have been recognising the importance of sustainability. In order to better conceptualise sustainable system, strategies, tools and indicators to be better understood. In this context, this article presents the review on sustainable manufacturing strategies, tools, and indicators. The article presents the review in five perspectives of sustainable manufacturing: research studies, modelling, strategies, tools and indicators. A total of 89 articles were reviewed and analysed. Insights were derived from the reviewed papers. A conceptual framework for sustainable manufacturing implementation is presented.
