Abstract:
The transformation towards sustainable production and decarbonisation are critical issues for businesses in this decade. This paper analyses business partnerships with NGOs as a means to foster this necessary transformation. It provides urgently needed opportunities to reduce complexity and time for permitting, e.g., for wind or solar installations, and offers an opportunity to develop innovation. By conducting expert interviews with both NGOs and businesses, this paper identifies success factors and hurdles for the cooperation of 'frenemies'. By developing a model for impactful transformative partnerships, this paper closes a research gap. Transformative partnerships have vast potential and the power to achieve a win-win-win situation for NGOs, businesses, and the environment.
