Stakeholder considerations and timeliness of action by managers in the military

Abstract: The military is best known for exercising regimented, top-down control with little attention given to considerations of stakeholders, particularly outside stakeholders. Data from 102 managers working in US military were used to test the influence of the perceived strength of stakeholder considerations on the timeliness of military managers' action orientation. Findings show military managers' perceptions of the strength of stakeholders demands directly influences the timeliness of their intentions to act. The paper concludes with implications for future research.
