Abstract:
This paper focuses on evaluation of the firm's ability to implement a newly proposed advanced manufacturing system (AMS), i.e., humanised flexible manufacturing system (HFMS). Methodology based on digraph and matrix approach has been utilised for finding the index of fitness (IOF) for transition to HFMS for an industry. The major finding of this research is that a firm can judge its fitness for shifting to HFMS by evaluating IOF value. This IOF value can also be utilised for ranking different organisations for their ability for shifting to HFMS. In this way, managers can judge whether their organisation is fit for HFMS implementation or not, without making the huge investments directly.
