Smart logistics for smart cities

Rajiv Aserkar

International Journal of Logistics Economics and Globalisation, 2021, vol. 9, issue 1, 40-57

Abstract: This article aims to understand the concept of smart logistics and its role in the success of smart cities. A literature review was conducted to learn about the various components of smart logistics and its adoption to meet the various attributes of a smart city. The study draws from the examples of Singapore's adoption of smart logistics and concludes that there is a definite link between the success of the smart city initiative and the digitisation of the logistical processes. This study will help the nations across the world to benchmark their state of readiness to adopt smart logistics with that of Singapore and adopt smart logistics practices to enhance the effectiveness of their smart city initiative.
