World Review of Entrepreneurship, Management and Sustainable Development, 2006, vol. 2, issue 1/2, 73-88

Abstract: With the implementation of the Western China Development Strategy and the establishment of a market economy system, tourism development has rapidly prevailed in China in recent years and more and more tourism plans of natural reserves are involved. However, since most of plans are economic interest-oriented, some significant natural reserves begin to confront an increasingly serious sustainable development crisis. Based on a wide investigation on natural reserves, this paper first analyses China's relevant laws in detail and then designs a tourism development criterion of natural reserves, which includes standards for making a right choice for planners and investors, key points for tourism feasibility assessment and necessary contents in a development contract. This paper builds a new controllable mechanism for the sustainable tourism development of natural reserves.
