NEW STRATEGIC ORIENTATIONS ON THE EU SINGLE MARKET

Abstract: During the last 50 years, European Union and its Single market havegenerated new opportunities for the European companies that have improved their domesticand international competitiveness, have created new jobs and offered diversified products atlower prices for consumers. Also, by establishing the free movement of persons, EU’spopulation has had the opportunity to choose where to live, study or work. But the globalfinancial and economic crisis affected EU member states’ economies in the last years, withhuge social costs. Since taking office (November 2014), the European Commission, under thechairmanship of J.C. Junker has responding to these challenges by setting major goals fordeepening the Single Market across sectors and policy areas.Our article analyzes and summarizes new strategic orientations across sectors andnew Single Market Strategy, aimed at providing more opportunities for people and for business.
