Abstract:
Climate change represents an increasing threat to agriculture, bydiminishing production yields and increasing pressure on water resources and soil quality. On the other hand, increasing demand for food and crops related to demographic projections, will ask for higher agricultural production. Given these two divergent trends, agriculturalsector development should be supported by a strategic approach, that will take into account,on one hand, the climate change effects of increasing pressure on primary resources - waterand soil and, on the other hand, the increasing demand for food and agricultural products ,related to the prospects for global population growth.
