Conjunctura economiei mondiale / World Economic Studies, 2012
Abstract:
The article presents the evolution of the world vegetable edible oils and oilseeds markets in 2011 and projections for 2012. It contains an indepth analysis of the production, consumption, trade and stocks, by the main types of oils and oilseeds, at the world level and by the main countries. In 2011, the average prices for most of oils substantially increased, on the basis of increased demand from emerging economies (mainly China, India and Indonezia), but also other factors (lower stocks for some of the oils, the weaker US dollar etc). As for 2012, the vegetable edible oil prices will tend to increase, on the basis of smaller global surplus of oils. The oilseeds prices could increase more, but weather risk must be taken into account.
