FERROUS SCRAP
Cristina Bumbac
Conjunctura economiei mondiale / World Economic Studies, 2013
Abstract:
The article presents the development of the ferrous scrap market in 2012 and prospects for 2013. In 2011, the scrap and pig iron consumption increased in all major consumer countries. Also the activity of metal recycling has intensified. The specialists expressed views between optimism and pessimism regarding the market outlook and, especially, the prices evolution, given the fact that the prices from 2007 and 2008 were artificially increased, thus being not representative. The revival of world economy will not generate an increasing of these products prices, which will likely return to normal, sustainable levels.
