Abstract:
The article presents the ferroalloys market’s development in 2013 and forecasts for 2014. In 2013, the ferroalloys market continued to be influenced by the difficulties of the mining companies that produce raw materials, these being dependent on imports from producing countries, generally poor or poorly developed, which have adopted some measures for protecting their mineral resources, complicating the access to these resources. Once they decreased heavily during 2012, the ferroalloys prices continued to drop in the first months of 2013. The year 2013 was, overall, unfavorable for basic ferroalloys producers, situation which began to improve in 2014. Also, for special ferroalloys, the average prices was generally lower in 2013 than the average of 2012, the forecasts showing an improved situation in 2014.
