Abstract:
Despite a gradual recovery in growth across emerging and developing economies, their GDP growth rate still remains below the average in the period 2000-2015 due to a multitude of factors. These include: slowing growth in China, developments in commodity prices, high levels of indebtedness, decrease in foreign direct investment and remittances from abroad, along with consistent capital outflows, as well as increasing political and geopolitical tensions in many countries. The BRICS group continues to be relevant for the system of international relations, with intra-BRICS cooperation having a special importance not only from the perspective of the five countries, but also in view of boosting growth regionally and globally.
