Abstract:
Since the election of the American president, Donald Trump, international trade entered a period of uncertainty, in which the protectionist measures supported by the new American administration menace to change the nature of the trade agreements at world level. In the face of these new challenges, the European Union needs to have a proactive stance, not a reactive one, preparing, thus, the ground for new trade agreements to compensate for any losses related to a potential trade war imposed by the U.S. to the rest of its traditional trade partners.
