THE EUROPEAN SEMESTER - A FRAMEWORK FOR THE COORDINATION OF MACROECONOMIC POLICIES ACROSS THE EU. POLAND IN THE COUNTRY REPORT

Abstract:
Starting with 2010, the European Commission provides a framework for the coordination of economic policies across the European Union through the European Semester, which publishes macroeconomic analyzes and forecasts at the level of each Member State and constantly assesses their progress towards achieving the Europe 2020 objectives.The aim of our article is to analyze and synthetically present the results of the Country Report on Poland published in March 2018 within the European Semester 2018. The article is structured in 5 chapters: a) the introduction presents the objectives of the European Semester for all EU Member States,being followed by b) the analysis of the evolution and forecast of Poland's economic, social and fiscal development (2016-2019); c) Country-specific recommendations 2017 and progress assessment; d) Europe 2020 national targets and progress. Finally, e) the main conclusions of the Country Report on Poland are presented.
