Euroinfo, 2020, vol. 4, issue 2, 34-50
Abstract:
This article examines the impact of the new state aid regulations adopted at EU level in response to the catastrophic impact of the COVID-19 crisis on Member States' economies. The research methodology is based mainly on case studies of schemes and measures adopted by Member States on the basis of the New Temporary Framework. Increased attention is paid to supporting SMEs through state aid, using a comparative analysis of pre-crisis schemes, based on the latest EU State Aid Scoreboard, and of the SME schemes adopted during Coronavirus pandemic. The final objective of the research is to synthesize a set of criteria for Romania that would lead to the adequate use of the state aid policy to support the national economy affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
