THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC FOR THE EUROPEAN UNION CEREALS MARKET

Abstract:
This paper aims to present the European Union grains market in the COVID-19 pandemic period and the possible side effects of the sanitary crisis on this essential sector of the EU economy. The analysis is structured to show the dynamics of the grains market determining factors and the EU places on the world grains market in 2021 and outlook for 2021. Also, the paper revealed the trends of main grains quotation on European Exchange and EU ports (Rotterdam - Holland, Constanta –Romania, and Trelleborg – Sweden). In the article, we used the most relevant data from the key European and international statistical institutions. Finally, the analysis ends with conclusions that should be a good way for the policymakers and farmers.
