Abstract:
In 2024 the world economy continued to be confronted with the consequences of the exogenous shocks of the past years, including the fragmentation of the economic flows among the largest economies and the high level of the real financing costs. Against this background, the world GDP continued to present a growth pace below the average of the past decades, while the probability of the persistence of the tensions among the main economic blocks in the short run is high, taking into account the electoral context (in 2024 there are scheduled general elections in countries contributing by over 50% to the world GDP). This article underscores the unprecedented challenges facing the world economy today. Additionally, it examines recent macroeconomic developments in the global economy, focusing on the United States of America and the Eurozone.
