Abstract: The fourth industrial revolution characterized by the proliferation of greenenergies, the special impact of the Internet, extending of the robotics, biotechnology,nanotechnology, microeletronics, advanced materials, the emergence and rapid expansion ofelectric vehicles raises particular challenges for all countries in economic and socialfield. Sustainable and quality development focused on technological progress and designed toprotect limited natural resources and environment requires not only adequate industrialpolicies but also a particular attention paid to education and research/innovation. Innovativepotential of productive companies will have a decisive role in ensuring their viability andcompetitiveness, as well as their positioning in the global and European value chainscurrently defining the process of regional integration and globalization.
