Abstract:
After almost 7 years following the financial and economic crisis, European countries are still struggling to sustain economic growth. This would require finding effective solutions for the financial and economic challenges facing the European Union (EU) through research and innovation actions, involving as many organizations as possible. However, the EU programme for research and innovation, Horizon 2020, had no dedicated themes or topics for economy and finance in 2014-2015, and, hence, no such budget for actions. This raises the question of how European organizations contribute to research and innovation actions in this area? And what is the EU contribution to the selected research projects for funding in 2014? Drawing on data from the European Commission, this article provides a picture of European organizations’ participation in EU funded research and innovation actions in economy and finance, in 2014.
