Abstract: At the beginning of 2016, developments in the international financial markets have been influenced primarily by the dynamics of the macroeconomic indicators in the main economies across the world (including the divergent monetary policies). We can notice an increase in volatility, determined by the intensity of the structural challenges in the emerging and developing countries, but also influenced by the new monetary cycle in the US. This paper provides a short overview of the developments in the international financial markets during the first weeks of 2016.
