Abstract:
NATO and EU expansion has positively and significantly influenced European stability and security. European security environment has been strengthened by the increasing democratic countries' efforts to build a new European security architecture. The evolution of the security environment is dynamic and complex and it is characterized by efforts for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of states in Southeastern and Central Europe, but also by Russia’s attempts to regain a decision position in international matters and by the increased role played by Asian countries in world politics. In addition to all these, the crises in Ukraine, the Gulf area and Central Asia, the effects organized crime and of poverty are added. Under these circumstances, global security and stability are more and more influenced by these factors. Romania's national security is designed and put into practice by the Romanian state through its security policy part of its general policy - which is conducted internationally and domestically. The military power of our country consists of the combat strength of the land forces, air force and naval force. Basically, Romania’s security status is guaranteed by the implementation of political, diplomatic, economic, cultural, environmental, humanitarian and - not least of all - military measures and actions undertaken by the authorities, in peacetime and in a potential armed conflict.
