Abstract:
The energy sector it is widely considered to have an important contribution to the climate change phenomena considering the negative impact of fossil fuel combustion on environment. The following paper aims primarily to the elaboration of an integrated analysis scheme - at economic and environmental level. The objective of such scheme is to create a practical tool for the evaluation of energy production technologies. The second objective of the research is to use the elaborated scheme in order to assess the structure of the system of electricity production in Romania. The scheme will also constitute an important input for the assessment of two development scenarios – on medium and long term – elaborated by the author, on the basis of the decarbonisation scenarios drawn up by the European Commission. These scenarios are based on the range of values predicted for the share of each fuel in the primary energy consumption for the year 2030 and 2050 respectively.
