Abstract:
Tourism has become one of the largest social phenomena of this century, with important implications for the economy, encompassing various forms of manifestation and development across different regions and countries. The ever-stronger processes of industrialization and urbanization alienate humans from nature at an alarming pace. One of the aims of tourism is to bring back the humans in the middle of nature. The motivation for the analysis of the Rucăr-Bran areal depression is based on a novel type of tourism, the rural tourism, which became popular after 1990. The charm of the Rucăr-Bran area is given by the harmonious landscape and gently varying topography which borrows its grandeur and monumentality from the neighboring mountains. Besides the spectacular natural tourist attractions, the area is also rich in man-made ones, such as the valuable traditional buildings in the ancient settlements of the area, which add to the list of reasons why the Rucăr-Bran areal is sought and visited by many tourists.
