Abstract:
This study serves as introduction to the ballistic protection field, which is based on ballistic protection materials. Being aware of the current state, trends and concerns related to this area is essential for researchers in order to choose, design and optimize the most effective solutions appropriate for specific threats that occur in the theaters. The study is particularly relevant as the socio-economic evolution determines the continuous and obvious development of technologies for manufacturing and material processing, which translates, on industrial level, to the possibility of obtaining new materials, as well as improving performance for those already known. There will be mentioned the main categories of materials, their most important characteristics, along with usage examples and current trends in the field.
