Abstract:
EUROPEAN AND NATIONAL COMMON SECURITY. GEOSPATIAL DIMENSION. - there is a necessity for increasing the actual visibility and impact of Common Security and Defense Policy - the geospatial component is a key pillar for European Security and Defense Policy - geospatial domain satellite systems are the main features for the acquisition, processing and dissemination of integrated geospatial services and intelligence with world-wide coverage; - European Union Satellite Center – EU SatCen, is a unique support tool for the European External Action; it also has an operational side, supporting member states with services, products and geospatial intelligence; - geospatial infrastructure has two sets of addressees : civilian and military; - satellite systems are used for identifying and monitoring threats to common security and during humanitarian crises; - common security is based on European satellite systems that are able to provide new capabilities for national defense programs. - there is a necessity for establishing rules to comply with two sets of users - civilian and military, of specific infrastructure; - realistic, effective and creative solutions must by identified by member states and partners, in order to adapt and further develop existing EU capabilities, making them more relevant and reactive.
