Revista de Economie Mondiala / The Journal of Global Economics, 2017, vol. 9, issue 1
Abstract:
This paper aims to discuss some of the most sensitive issues negotiated by the USA and the EU in the framework of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), namely intellectual property rights and food safety. It also emphasizes certain transparency aspects arising from the interaction between the negotiators and the citizens of both parties, which have led to a lack of acceptance or even opposition from a part of the stakeholders. The analysis in our paper is based on both insights from the current literature and statistical data and information provided by relevant institutions from the EU and the US.
